‘Who Moved My Audience?’ Draws a Crowd
I’m happy to report that the inaugural social media seminar sponsored by Entrepreneur and Maples Communications this week was an overwhelming success.
Marketing executives from a variety of top-tier companies representing the technology, healthcare, manufacturing, automotive, restaurant and other industries here in Orange County filled the conference room at the Strawberry Farms Golf Club on Wednesday.
Primed with coffee and pastries, the audience sat down to hear Maples’ New Media Evangelist Ron Ploof break the news that the old media business models are dying, but something is being born to replace it – you, me and everyone else conversing online.
Ron made it clear (especially with this hilarious photo from the movie Meet the Parents) that companies now have to earn their way into their customer’s “circle of trust” as opposed to buying or influencing traditional media to do it for them exclusively.
Gaining that trust will be no easy task. Whether social media programs are built inside the company or with help from outside specialists, it will take courage, imagination, focus and hard-won experience to make them work.
Several attendees told us it was the finest presentation they’ve ever seen on social media. So, as is the custom in this new media world, we’ll soon be sharing it with all of you. Stay tuned for regular segments of the presentation posted soon.
Also, look for more news posted here on where the ‘Who Moved My Audience?’ seminar will be coming next. Or contact us if you would like the seminar delivered at your organization or company.
And thank you for all who attended and for your interest and great questions!
